Lopesan Review 2026: 27 Resorts Across Four Countries

QUICK VERDICT. Lopesan Hotel Group runs 27 hotels across four countries — 16 in the Canary Islands, four in Punta Cana, four in northern Germany and three in the Austrian Alps. Published rates start at €71 a night on Rügen and €90 in Gran Canaria, autumn promotions run 15–30% off, and a Gran Canaria day pass starts at €110 without staying the night. It is the strongest single-brand concentration in the south of Gran Canaria, and the weakest fit if you want that brand anywhere outside its four home markets.

Most people who have holidayed in the south of Gran Canaria have stayed in a Lopesan hotel without registering the name. The group owns the dunes-facing blocks in Playa del Inglés, the Balinese-temple fantasy of the Baobab Resort in Meloneras, and the adults-only hotel tucked beside the Maspalomas lighthouse. The branding sits quietly on the pool towels; the footprint does not.

That raises the only question worth answering in a Lopesan review: is this one hotel group with a coherent standard, or a holding company that has collected properties and stapled its name to them? Below is what the official site publishes today — destinations, brands, real nightly prices and the running offers — and an honest read on who each part of it suits.

What Lopesan Is and Who It Is For

Lopesan Hotel Group is a Spanish hospitality company headquartered in Gran Canaria, and its portfolio is unusually lopsided by design. Of 27 hotels, 16 sit in the Canary Islands. The rest are split between a Caribbean beach strip and a set of German and Austrian properties that most Canary Islands visitors never hear about.

Lopesan Hotel Group destinations with hotel counts in Gran Canaria Punta Cana Fuerteventura Germany and Austria

The eight destinations and their hotel counts, taken from the official Lopesan site

  • Gran Canaria, Spain — 14 hotels, from €90 per room per night
  • Fuerteventura, Spain — 2 hotels, from €120
  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic — 4 resorts, from $295
  • Kleinwalsertal, Austria — 3 hotels, from €187
  • Vogtland, Germany — 1 hotel, from €94
  • Fehmarn, Germany — 1 hotel, from €94
  • Rügen, Germany — 1 hotel, from €71
  • Graal-Müritz, Germany — 1 hotel, from €139

Those are lead-in rates rather than typical rates, and they move with the calendar — but they are the numbers the group itself puts on the page, which makes them a fair starting point for comparison.

Seven Brands, One Booking Engine

The part that confuses first-time bookers is the brand ladder. Lopesan operates seven sub-brands, and the name on the door tells you more about the price and the crowd than the star rating does.

Lopesan sub brands from The Lopesan Collection to Kumara Corallium Abora and IFA

The seven brands as the Lopesan site presents them, each with its own positioning label

Brand Positioning Typical guest
The Lopesan Collection Hotels Exclusive, one property only Couples paying for design and service
Lopesan Hotels & Resorts Premium flagship resorts Families and couples wanting scale
Kumara by Lopesan All concepts Mid-market, flexible
Corallium by Lopesan Seafront, adults only Adults wanting quiet and a beach
Abora by Lopesan Fun and families Families on a budget, slides and pools
IFA by Lopesan Nature and families German and Austrian domestic breaks
Anfi Resorts Suites and apartments Longer stays, self-catering

The single Collection property is Hotel Faro in Maspalomas: adults-only, minimalist, with a rooftop infinity pool and the Maspalomas lighthouse directly outside. At the other end, Abora Buenaventura was listed at €48 per person per night during the autumn campaign. Same group, same booking engine, a nightly rate that differs by a factor of five.

What the Autumn Offers Actually Say

Three campaigns were running when this Lopesan review was written: up to 30% off Punta Cana, up to 30% off the Canary Islands for autumn, and up to 20% off for winter. The useful detail is in the individual cards rather than the banner percentages.

Lopesan live offers showing discounts of 15 to 30 percent and nightly prices per person

Live offer cards showing the discount, the minimum stay and the per-person nightly rate

Every card carried a one-night minimum stay and a validity window of 12 September to 31 October 2026. Sample rates, per person per night:

  • Abora Buenaventura — 20% off, from €48
  • Kumara Serenoa — 20% off, from €81
  • Corallium Beach — 20% off, from €88
  • Abora Catarina — 20% off, from €92
  • Lopesan Baobab Resort — 15% off, from €96
  • IFA Altamarena, Fuerteventura — 30% off, from €97
  • Abora Continental — 20% off, from €98
  • Abora Interclub Atlantic — 30% off, from €106
  • Lopesan Villa del Conde — 15% off, from €118
  • Corallium Dunamar — 30% off, from €119

Note the inversion: the deepest discounts are not on the cheapest hotels. The 30% cards sit on Dunamar and Interclub Atlantic, which still land above €100 — while Baobab, one of the group’s showpiece resorts, gives away only 15%. Discount depth here signals occupancy, not value. Read the final per-night figure and ignore the badge. Current Lopesan offers are listed here, and they rotate every few weeks.

The Day Pass Most Visitors Miss

This is the genuinely distinctive part of the Lopesan proposition, and it is buried two menus deep. In Gran Canaria the group sells 16 day passes — full access to a resort’s pools, wellness areas and restaurants without booking a room.

Lopesan day pass options in Gran Canaria with prices per person

Day pass listings across the Gran Canaria properties, sold by the day rather than the night

The Villa del Conde package is the clearest example: a Balinese bed with sea views for two people, à la carte lunch and towel service included, from €110 per person, running 10:00–18:00 in low season and 11:00–19:00 in high season. Resident, corporate and group discounts do not apply.

Two groups should care. Anyone staying in a cheap apartment in Playa del Inglés can buy a five-star pool day without paying five-star room rates. And anyone in transit — a long layover, a last day before an evening flight — gets somewhere to put the hours that is not the airport.

Where Lopesan Falls Short

What works

  • A price range wide enough to cover €48-a-night family hotels and a design-led adults-only Collection property in the same booking flow
  • Density in south Gran Canaria — 14 hotels means real choice of location, pool style and crowd within a 20-minute drive
  • Day passes, which almost no competing group sells at this scale
  • Sustainability commitments that are specific rather than decorative: renewable energy, water management, circular-economy targets, local sourcing, and third-party certifications
  • Direct booking in euros with German-language support for the IFA properties

What does not

  • The concentration cuts both ways. Outside the Canaries, Punta Cana and a handful of German and Austrian towns, Lopesan does not exist — it is not a group you can build a travel habit around
  • Punta Cana is priced in dollars and starts at $295, more than three times the Gran Canaria entry rate, with no obvious bridge between the two
  • Lead-in “from” prices carry no date, so the headline figure and the figure at your dates can diverge sharply
  • Seven brands is at least two too many. The difference between Kumara and Corallium is not self-evident, and the site explains it in marketing language rather than concrete terms
  • The day pass exists only in Gran Canaria

How Lopesan Compares

Lopesan RIU Barceló H10
Footprint 4 countries, 27 hotels Global, 100+ Global, 250+ Europe & Caribbean, 60+
Core strength South Gran Canaria density All-inclusive beach resorts City and beach mix Design-led four-star
Entry rate shown From €71 Varies by market Varies by market Varies by market
Day passes Yes, 16 in Gran Canaria Limited Limited Limited

The comparison makes the trade-off plain. Larger chains give you a card you can use anywhere. Lopesan gives you more choice in one place than any of them — which matters more if Gran Canaria is where you actually go.

Who Should Book Direct

  • Families on a budget — the Abora line is built for slides, pools and noise, and it is the cheapest way into the group
  • Couples avoiding children — Corallium is seafront adults-only; Hotel Faro is the upgrade
  • Repeat Gran Canaria visitors — 14 hotels means you can change the holiday without changing the island
  • German and Austrian travellers — the IFA properties are the domestic arm, from €71 on Rügen
  • Anyone already on the island — the day pass is the cheapest way to use a resort you are not sleeping in

Verdict

Lopesan is not a global brand and does not pretend to be. It is a regional operator that owns its home market thoroughly, prices across a genuinely wide band, and publishes its rates and offer terms clearly enough to be checked — which is more than many hotel groups manage. The brand ladder needs pruning and the “from” pricing needs dates, but neither is a reason to look elsewhere if the Canaries are on your list.

The autumn window closes on 31 October, and the winter campaign that follows is shallower at up to 20%. If the dates work, the current offers are the better of the two.
